Kara Lafon is a current graduate student in the Master of Education in Educational Leadership program.

What brought you to Evangel?

I did my undergrad at Evangel and loved the faculty and community. I learned so much about how to be a Christian leader. This is what brought me back for my graduate work.

How did you know that Education was your calling?

God has always opened doors to work in Children’s ministry and working with students in some capacity. He has shown up time and time again. My calling is confirmed each time I let Him use me in this capacity. This reminds me that it is His power and grace that provides. He is the reason I am blessed to walk the hallways and connect with so many people in my school. I am amazed by Him and the relationships he helps me foster as an educator.

What impact has the Education department had on your life?

The Education department is full of wonderful leaders that live out the standards of Christian leaders. They continuously give of themselves to make sure the students become the impactful educators needed in our schools. I am blessed to learn from their examples and hope to represent them well in my career.

How has your time at Evangel prepared you for your future career?

Evangel has provided me with a competitive and quality education. I feel I have the tools, knowledge, and relationships needed to bring about the positive change my career requires. Evangel has provided a supportive network where I have learned how to be a Christian leader with a solid foundation in solid beliefs and values.

How have you seen God present through your educational journey?

God has been present throughout my entire educational journey. He is the reason why I am continuing my education and provides me the wisdom in dealing with the different scenarios the education world throws at me. He continues to guide and open doors.

What would you say to a student considering coming to Evangel and pursuing a degree in Education?

Evangel University is a wonderful school that will prepare you to be an educator, but even more important, it provides an amazing community. They support you in achieving the goals and dreams God has placed on your heart. The faculty takes time to listen and make time for every student.
