Dr. Jason Salazar is a professor of music and a faculty member at Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri. Jason provides leadership to the Worship Leadership and Music Technology programs, where he teaches courses in music and worship leadership.
Jason has been involved with worship and church music for nearly 25 years. He has served churches in Missouri, Texas, and California. He has been a worship leader, choir and orchestra director, and music ministry department administrator.
In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Jason is a songwriter, arranger, orchestrator, conductor, and producer. He has composed, arranged, and recorded music for many groups, churches, national companies, and ministries. He has written articles that have appeared in several national music magazines. Jason also maintains an active performing schedule as a drummer, percussionist, and keyboard player.
He has managed copyrights and obtained licensing for commercially recorded music, television, and film. He has worked with Netflix, Harry Fox Agency, Gospel Publishing House, Music Services, and oneSIXone music.
Jason received his Ph.D. from the University of the Cumberlands, his master’s degree from Missouri State University, and his undergraduate degree from Evangel University.
Professional Memberships & Noteworthy Community Involvement
Jason is a member of ASCAP (The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers), Pi Kappa Lambda (music honor society), and the Hymn Society.
He serves as the instrumental director at Central Assembly. He has been in this position since 2012. Before Central, he maintained the same position at James River Church from 2001 – 2010.
In 2014, received the Orville and Jewell Mills Young Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching, Scholarship, and Service.
