Jason Salazar, PhD

Jason, a member of the music faculty, advises Evangel’s worship leadership program.

In addition to his work at Evangel, Jason is on the music and worship staff at Central Assembly in Springfield, Missouri. At Central, he is the instrumental director and creates music arrangements. He is also an active composer, arranger, and songwriter, and has written music for the Assemblies of God denomination, Dream City Church (Phoenix, Arizona), Regular Baptist Press, Answers in Genesis, and James River Church, to name a few. He has written articles that have appeared in several national music magazines.

Jason received his undergraduate degree from Evangel University, his master’s degree from Missouri State University, and his Ph.D. from the University of the Cumberlands.

A rabid San Francisco sports fan, Jason lives in Springfield, Missouri with his wife, Jennie, and five children, Jackson, Cameron, Josie, Diego, and Charlie.

A member of Pi Kappa Lambda (music honor society)
A member of The Hymn Society
Serves as the instrumental director at Central Assembly. He has been in this position since 2012. Before Central, he maintained the same position at James River Church from 2001 – 2010.
Regularly plays drums and percussion for local theatre productions (Springfield Little Theatre, Drury Theatre)

Awards Received
In 2014, received the Orville and Jewell Mills Young Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching, Scholarship, and Service.
