Mitch Yung is an Assistant Professor of Art at Evangel University. Yung’s current research involves functional objects and their duality of purpose, serving both functional and decorative uses. He delves into the intellectual sensibilities of form, function and the decoration of rustic utilitarian pottery with a recent emphasis in Mishima decorated vessels and onggi ware.

Before becoming full-time faculty at Evangel University, Yung was an Assistant Professor of Art at Southwest Baptist University. Prior to this, he was adjunct faculty at Drury University and Evangel University. He received his MFA in Ceramics from Arizona State University and a BFA from Kansas State University. He has maintained an active exhibition record and is included in various publications, such as Low Fire Surface and Decoration by Lynn Peters, Architectural Ceramics by Peter King, Through the Eyes of Childhood by Mead Johnson Nutrition and Ceramics Monthly magazine. Yung has served residencies at the Skopelos Foundation for the Arts, Skopelos Island, Greece; Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts in Newcastle, Maine; and Mesa Arts Center in Mesa, Arizona. His work is in various public and private collections around the world, including Martin Community Army Hospital, Benning, Georgia; American Museum of Ceramic Art, Pomona, California; Amegy Bank, Dallas, Texas; Nelson Fine Arts Museum, Tempe, AZ; and Ceramics Monthly magazine, Columbus, Ohio.
