Shelley Block graduated from Southwest Baptist University in 1996 with degrees in English Education and Psychology. While pursuing her master’s degree, Shelley developed an interest in nineteenth century women’s literature and rhetorical theory, and she continued to explore these interests during her doctoral course work, eventually specializing in American literature. Her publications include work on nineteenth century American women writers and American periodical literature.
Shelley began teaching full time at Evangel in 2022. She teaches courses in American literature and composition and serves as the Composition Coordinator.
Shelley is married to Joel, and they have four children and one dog who loves to cuddle during storms. In her free time, Shelley can be found playing pickleball or soaking in the sun with a good book and a cup of coffee.
