2021 Assemblies of God Theological Seminary Baccalaureate Ceremony & Activities

SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – The Assemblies of God Theological Seminary will host its 2021 Baccalaureate and Awards ceremony on Thursday, May 6 at 10:30 a.m. in Spence Chapel on the campus of Evangel University. Social distancing protocols will be followed.

A total of 42 scholars from 21 states and three foreign countries completed their degrees from AGTS, including 16 doctorates and 26 Master of Divinity and Master of Arts degrees.

The service and related events will be conducted under the leadership of Dr. Timothy Hager, dean of the seminary and vice president of Evangel University.

Rev. Rod Loy

Baccalaureate speaker

This year’s baccalaureate will highlight Rev. Rod Loy, lead pastor of First Assembly of God in North Little Rock, Arkansas, and 2021 Master of Leadership and Ministry graduate.

Loy and his wife, Cindy, have been in full-time ministry for over 30 years. They have been at First NLR since 1991 and have been lead pastors since 2001. Under his leadership, First NLR has grown to over 5,500 in weekly attendance on 10 campuses, plus more than 25,000 joining in through their online campus. First NLR gives over $1 million to missions every year and has helped plant more than 1,100 churches in 63 countries.

Loy is the author of three books: “Immediate Obedience,” “3 Questions,” and “After the Honeymoon.” He and Cindy have two sons, both married, and two grandchildren.

Doctoral event

A doctoral investiture and symposium will be held on Thursday, May 6 at 2 p.m. at AGTS. Candidates will present their doctoral research topics and officially receive their doctoral credentials.

Commencement ceremony

The Seminary’s 48th annual commencement celebration will be held on Friday, May 7 at 9:30 a.m. in conjunction with the 63rd annual commencement ceremony for Evangel University. The event will take place at JQH Arena in Springfield, Missouri.
