Community invited to signature music performances at Evangel University this fall

SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – Evangel University’s Music Department will host a series of annual performances this fall featuring its signature bands and ensembles. All events are free, and the community is invited to attend.

The series begins with the Instrumental Chamber Ensembles Concert on Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the Barnett Recital Hall on Evangel’s campus.

Additional performances include:

  • University Orchestra Concert: Tuesday, Nov. 4 at 7:30 p.m. in Spence Chapel
  • Jazz Combo and Jazz Band Concert: Thursday, Nov. 6 at 7:30 p.m. in the Barnett Recital Hall
  • “Music and Muscles: A Musician’s Guide to Well-Being” presented by Dr. Sarah Morris, EU assistant professor of music: Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. in the Barnett Recital Hall
  • Chorus & Chorale Concert: Thursday, Nov. 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the Barnett Recital Hall
  • Honors Recital: Monday, Nov. 17 at 5 p.m. followed by the Edna Baker Vocal Recital at 7 p.m., both in the Barnett Recital Hall
  • University Band Concert: Tuesday, Nov. 18 at 7:30 p.m. in Spence Chapel
  • Vocal Chamber Ensembles Concert: Thursday, Nov. 20 at 7:30 p.m. in the Barnett Recital Hall
  • Opera Workshop: Monday, Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the Barnett Recital Hall
  • 41st Annual Christmas Concert: Friday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. in Spence Chapel

Mr. Justin Stanton, director of bands, will lead the University Band, Jazz Combo, and Jazz Band concerts.

The EU Chorus and Chorale Concert will feature performances by the University Chorus, directed by Dr. Kevin Hawkins, and the University Chorale, directed by Dr. Tom Matrone, chair of the Music Department and director of choral activities.

The Vocal Chamber Ensembles Recital will include performances by the Men’s Vocal Ensemble and the Women’s Chamber Ensemble. The Men’s and Women’s Ensembles are directed by Dr. Tom Matrone. The Men’s Ensemble will be co-directed by Nick Arnberger, EU Music Education student teacher. The Women’s Ensemble will be co-directed by Mrs. Jane Munson-Berg, voice area adjunct professor.

About the Department of Music
The Music Department at Evangel University offers degrees in Music, Music Education, Music Performance, Commercial Music, and Worship Leadership.
