Evangel University celebrates annual Homecoming activities this weekend

SPRINGFIELD, Missouri — Evangel University’s annual Homecoming activities will take place this Wednesday through Saturday, Oct. 2-5.

EU will host a celebration and dedication service in the AGFinancial Arena on Friday, Oct. 4.

The event officially kicks off as Valor Volleyball, undefeated in conference play this season, host long-time rival College of the Ozarks on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m. in the AGFinancial Arena. Tickets may be purchased online or at the arena via credit or debit card for $5 for those ages 12 and older.

The university will host local and state business leaders and government officials at a dedication and ribbon-cutting celebration on Friday, Oct. 4 at 9:45 a.m. in the AGFinancial Arena. This state-of-the-art 70,000 square foot athletic venue is the first new construction project on Evangel’s campus since 2009.

EU’s Music Department Homecoming concert will include a performance by the women’s ensemble among several others.

A Homecoming concert featuring various groups and ensembles from Evangel’s award-winning Music Department will be held Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. in the Barnett Recital Hall. Admission is free.

Additionally, various departmental activities will take place throughout the afternoon on Friday and on Saturday morning, including departmental awards.

The 2024 alumni awardees will be recognized throughout the weekend.

The Evangel Valor football team, 4-0 this season and undefeated in regular season play since joining the KCAC league last fall, will face Avila University at Nixa High School’s Eagle Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 1 p.m. Tickets may be purchased in advance on the EU Athletics website or at the gate via credit or debit card for $10 for adults; admission is free for children 12 and under.

On Saturday evening, the men’s and women’s soccer teams will look to secure their eighth and third wins of the season respectively as they take on Tabor College at Evangel’s Coryell Field. The women’s game starts at 5 p.m., followed by the men’s game at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free.
