SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – Evangel University held a groundbreaking ceremony to kick off the installation of the Randy Rowden Intramural Field on January 11, 2023.
The ceremony featured remarks from the champions of the 2022 men’s and women’s intramural football teams Jared Spence, junior, and Chloe Grantham, senior. Also present were Dr. Mike Rakes, EU president, Christy Rowden, director of student activities, and Anthony Finzo, campus recreation director, as well as several EU students and staff members.
The new intramural field will feature artificial turf, updated nighttime lighting, and a new digital scoreboard. Field construction will be completed this spring.
Rowden Field is part of Evangel’s Here. Now. campaign, a $24 million fundraising effort launched last summer that also includes the construction of Valor Center, an athletic arena and fieldhouse, as well as the complete renovation of the Walther Hall dorm.
