Evangel University students earned five first-place finishes in the Missouri Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) conference in early March. The competition took place in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Eleven students competed in numerous competitions, including case competitions, objective business exams, and presentation-based events. Case competitions require participants to quickly analyze real-world business scenarios and create solutions to problems, exams tested knowledge in finance, marketing, and management, and for presentations students had to develop and deliver project pitches to a panel of judges.
Each Evangel student competing placed in at least two of the three events they entered. FBLA Faculty Advisor and Business Professor, Michelle Jacobs, says this event is not just friendly competition for the students, it’s preparing them for practical application.
“It’s what makes students job-ready. Having Evangel’s club members and officers compete against other business students in the state is an incredible feeling, especially when they perform as well as they did this year,” said Jacobs.
The students will be heading to the 2026 Collegiate National Leadership Conference in Las Vegas in June, where they will compete against top qualifiers from across the country.
