SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Evangel University started the 2020-2021 academic year with four new full-time faculty members who teach from the bachelor’s level through doctorate and seminary programs.

• Dr. Chanda (Long) Clayman has joined faculty at Evangel as an associate professor in the Department of Education. In addition to her teaching, she supervises EU teacher candidates placed in the field and also serves as the Certification Officer for the University.

A native of Ozark, Missouri, Chanda graduated from Evangel in 1999 with a degree in biology and stayed through the summer of 2000 to finish a second degree in science education. She also earned a master’s in education from Missouri State University in 2003 and a doctorate in educational leadership from Liberty University in 2008.

Her teaching career included escalating areas of responsibility at Springfield, Ozark and Spokane School Districts. After earning her doctorate, she returned to Ozark, where she served as the assistant high school principal, assistant director of special services, and finally, the district’s director of teaching and learning.

Chanda and her husband, John, live in Highlandville with their children, three dogs, and too many horses to count. “Most weekends you will find us at a rodeo somewhere, watching the boys rope and ride,” she added.

• Dr. Robert M. Eby has joined the faculty as an associate professor. He teaches bachelor’s-level classes in Evangel’s Department of Theology and Global Church Ministries, as well as master’s and doctoral level classes at the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary. In addition, Robert serves as the new director of the Cordas C. Burnett Center for Biblical Preaching, taking over from Doug Oss, Ph.D., who founded the program in 2005.

A native of Mishawaka, Indiana, Robert graduated from Central Bible College in 1996. He earned his M.A. in Contemporary Theology from Lincoln Christian Seminary in 2012 and completed his Ph.D. in Biblical Interpretation and Theology from AGTS in 2020.

He is an ordained minister and has held lead pastoral positions in three churches in Illinois — Minier, Lake Villa, and most recently at the Southwest Community Church in Shorewood, Illinois.

Robert and his wife, Lori, were high school sweethearts. “We were married after our sophomore year at CBC, which adds up to 26 years at this point,” he said with a smile. Together they have three sons, ages 15 to 23. Lori is a LCSW and works in private practice as a therapist.

• Dr. Meghan Musy has joined the faculty as an assistant professor. She, too, teaches undergraduate theology classes at Evangel as well as master’s and doctoral level classes at AGTS. Meghan is in the process of launching new tracks in two of the master’s programs.

A native of Silver Spring, Maryland, Meghan graduated from Evangel University in 2009 with a double major in advertising/public relations and biblical studies. She earned her M.A. in Religious Studies at Missouri State University in 2012, and her Ph.D. in Christian Theology, with an emphasis on Old Testament, at McMaster Divinity College in 2018.

She is an ordained minister, credentialed in the Potomac Ministry Network of the Assemblies of God, where she also serves as Girls Ministries Director. From 2017-2019, Meghan served as an assistant professor of Old Testament at Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida. She presents regularly at the annual meetings of the Society of Biblical Literature and the Society for Pentecostal Studies.

“I consider it a privilege to teach alongside scholars who poured into me as an undergraduate and cheered me on through my other degrees and first years of teaching,” she said with deep appreciation.

• Dr. Cory Shipley has joined the faculty as an assistant professor. He teaches practical theology at AGTS and serves as the project coordinator for the Doctor of Ministry program.

A native of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Cory graduated from Central Bible College in 1992, earned his Master of Divinity from AGTS in 1996 and completed his Doctor of Ministry at Oral Roberts University in 2009.

He is an ordained AG minister with more than 25 years of experience as a lead pastor, presbyter, administrator and missionary. Prior to returning to Springfield, he served as a U.S. Missionary, focused on leadership development for the AG under the division of Church Planting and Development. He directed a statewide school, based out of Wichita, Kansas, for training pastors, youth pastors, chaplains, and local church leaders.

Cory and his wife, Janette, met before college and married after his sophomore year at CBC. They have four children — two married and two still at home, one of whom is a senior this year at Evangel. Janette is an R.N.
