Students will thrive in this major if they are intensely curious, enjoy science, love solving puzzles and are fascinated by how diseases are treated with drugs. The biochemistry major prepares students for many career opportunities including medical school, graduate school in a variety of biomed and chemistry fields, and immediate access to jobs in industrial and cancer research. Career options in biochemistry are growing rapidly due to the need for research into global health issues.
