Evangel University’s president, Dr. Carol Taylor, was in the spotlight at a breakfast meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014, sponsored by the Springfield Business Journal.
The monthly event — known as “12 People You Need to Know” — is designed to “introduce up-and-coming professionals, businesspeople who have relocated and are building their southwest Missouri resumes, instrumental yet behind-the-scenes personnel and notable names with whom readers would like to get up close and personal,” according to SBJ.
An overflow crowd of approximately 125 — including two Evangel student leaders — enjoyed the interview-style presentation hosted by SBJ Editor Eric Olson.
“I was inspired by the grace with which Dr. Taylor handled herself during the interview,” said Hannah Beers, student government president.
“I was also challenged by her story of how she has followed God’s direction throughout her career.” Beers is a junior advertising & public relations major from Steelville, Mo.
Elliot Adams, student government secretary, was also present at this event for the first time. “I, too, was impressed with how well she fielded the questions,” he said.
Reflecting on the large crowd, he added, “It’s great to see that the professional community in Springfield is interested in Evangel and our leaders.” Adams is a senior pre-law student from Ft. Wayne, Ind.
Other members of the Evangel University family who have been spotlighted in recent years include our retired president, Dr. Robert H. Spence, in March 2012; and 1977 graduate Kay Compton Logsdon, in Nov. 2013.
