The Evangel University Alumni Orchestra will present its second annual concert on Sunday, Oct. 27, at 2:30 p.m. in the Robert H. Spence Chapel Auditorium.
Members of the very first graduating class from Evangel University have traveled from as far as California to celebrate their 60th Anniversary this weekend during Evangel’s annual Homecoming festivities. Evangel’s Homecoming activities run Thursday, Oct. 3 through Saturday evening, Oct. 5, 2019
Back by popular demand, the 2nd Annual Evangel University Car Show & Cruise will be a part of the school’s Homecoming festivities on Saturday morning, Oct. 5, from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Admission for the viewing public is free. “The intent of the car show is to raise scholarship funds to help students at Evangel experience a first-class education,” said Hector Cruz, director of alumni engagement.
Total enrollment at Evangel University for the fall of 2019 has increased by 8.95%. There are 2,300 students officially enrolled at Evangel this fall, an increase of 189 over last year, according to Chris Belcher, vice president for enrollment management.
Evangel University will honor five alumni as part of the Homecoming ’19 Celebration. The Distinguished Alumnus, Outstanding Young Alumnus, and AGTS Graduate of the Year awards will be presented during a banquet at the Bass Pro White River Conference Center on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 6:30 p.m.
AGTS of Evangel University has received an authentic Torah scroll which survived the Holocaust in Eastern Europe. Due to damage and age, the scroll was declared pasul, or no longer kosher, before the donation. The 138-foot-long scroll was donated by God’s Ancient Library foundation and will be a significant tool for biblical study by AGTS students and professors.
During a special Homecoming ’19 celebration on Friday, October 4, the Evangel University family will celebrate the service of 10 special pioneer women, the “Dorm Mothers” from 1955 to 1965. A special Trees of Honor ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. for these beloved ladies, in the lobby of the Riggs Hall Administration Building.
The 2019 Evangel University Athletic Hall of Fame Class will be honored with the 2019 Hall of Fame Banquet on Friday. The Evangel University Fine Art & Design Gallery will be showcasing “Silver 25 Prints,” through September and October. The exhibit will display 25 pieces of art originally commissioned by Christians in the Visual Arts (CIVA), based on classics in the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C.

The Assemblies of God Theological Seminary of Evangel University has designed a Bilingual Spanish Master of Leadership and Ministry degree in recognition of the growing constituency of Hispanic ministry leaders within the Assemblies of God fellowship. An entirely online course delivery allows increased access and the ability for students to study anytime, anywhere. Scholarships are available to AG-credential holders.
Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019 is the Evangel University community service day in partnership with Springfield-based Convoy of Hope, at Weller Elementary. In addition, more than 100 Evangel students are working at the Convoy of Hope warehouse, 330 S. Paterson Ave., where they are preparing 5,000 bags of groceries for a community outreach in Flint, Michigan.
The Sunderland Foundation in Overland Park, Kansas, recently awarded a grant of $300,000 to support Evangel University’s Sustainability Renovation Project. Energy savings of $26,602 annually are projected from these improvements.
More than 500 new students from around the world are anticipated at Evangel University this fall, with a large percentage moving onto the campus Friday, August 23, 2019.
EU will once again be partnering with Convoy of Hope on Saturday, August 24, for a community service day at Weller Elementary School.
Hal Donaldson, co-founder and president of Convoy of Hope, will be the opening speaker for Evangel University’s Compassion Symposium. The event is free on Thursday & Friday, September 19-20, 2019. “Come listen, learn, interact and leave with actionable ideas about compassion,” said Dr. Donna Washburn, director of the Center for Compassion at Evangel.

Officials at Missouri State University and Evangel University have strengthened and expanded their cooperative relationship, making it easier for EU students to enroll in MSU’s accelerated master’s programs in business, accounting and cybersecurity.
Missionary assistants, or MAs, are the largest group that feed into the system and eventually become appointed general missionaries for the Assemblies of God… and, according to Hager, Evangel University has been the largest provider of MAs to AGWM for more than a decade. In light of this, the AGTS intercultural program for bachelor’s level students at Evangel has developed a system for “fast-tracking” students into AGWM by way of the Missionary (MAPS) and Missionary Associate (MA) programs.
Evangel University graduate Kelly Ward and his wife, Alisa, recently received a surprise visit from Mike Rowe, actor and TV host best known for the show “Dirty Jobs” on the Discovery Channel. They were about to be a guest on his new show, “Returning the Favor.”
