SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – Evangel University students, faculty, and staff will participate in national Make a Difference Day this Saturday, Oct. 28 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Participants will complete service projects throughout the local community.

The event is hosted by CROSSWalk, Evangel’s student-led ministry team, and sponsored by EU’s Center for Compassion.

“Make a Difference Day is an opportunity for the Evangel team to practice compassionate service in an accessible way while impacting our larger Springfield community,” said Michaela Farrell, CROSSwalk’s director of community engagement. “We partner with nonprofits throughout Springfield to do practical work, supporting them as they support our city.”

Participants will serve at Victory Mission, Good Samaritan Boys Ranch, Harmony House, Isabel’s House, McGregor Elementary, Robberson Neighborhood Association, Ronald McDonald House of the Ozarks, Springfield Dream Center, Connecting Grounds, Dogwood Ranch, and Ozarks Food Harvest. Projects include bagging groceries, cooking and meal prep, landscaping and yard work, painting, and cleaning.

National Make a Difference Day is observed on the fourth Saturday in October. It is one of the largest collective days of community service in the country
