Springfield, Mo. — Samantha Tyler, the current president of the Springfield Area Human Resources Association, has been named HR director of Evangel University.

She brings 12 years of accomplished human resource experience to the position.

“Samantha completed her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Evangel in December 2006, landed an HR job with Prime Inc. a month later, and has enjoyed a steady career of advancement and experience ever since,” said Linda Allen, vice president for business and finance at Evangel.

“For the past three years, she has been a member of our own HR staff, as an employment, training and development specialist,” Allen added. “During her time at Evangel, she has partnered with leaders across the campus and has built a high level of confidence in her knowledge and abilities.”

Tyler will complete her Master of Organizational Leadership degree at Evangel University this fall.

“Evangel has always had a special place in my heart because of how much the institution has invested, and continues to invest, in me as a student,” said Tyler

“I have seen firsthand how each leader, faculty, and staff member pour everything they have into the students to ensure they are successful,” she continued. “Now, I have the opportunity and privilege to ensure our employees are well cared for, equipped, and invested in to continue to do their jobs well.”

The road

Prior to joining the Evangel staff in 2016, Tyler served as the employment coordinator with the Springfield Public Schools for four years. Prior to that, she was a college recruitment specialist with Burns & McDonnell.

Tyler has six years of service in various board positions with the Springfield Area Human Resources Association, including her current position as president.

SAHRA is a local affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management, and she has attained the status of Certified Professional with that national organization. She also sits on the Missouri SHRM State Council.

Her work experiences, certification, additional education and years of service with SAHRA have allowed her to develop what she calls a comprehensive HR blueprint and strong network with other professionals in Southwest Missouri.

“I am always very excited to partner with our leadership to strategically contribute to the organization’s goals, especially those related to our greatest asset: our people!” said Tyler.

Tyler replaces Ocki Haas, who served Evangel in human resources for 18 years, including 10 as director, before taking a position at OTC earlier this spring. Tyler assumed the position as director soon after.
