Tell us about your career and what you do now.

I have been involved with waterparks and Aquatic Management since 2007. I have been blessed to work for two great companies: Silver Dollar City’s White Water and Great Wolf Lodge – Kansas City. I have had the opportunity to work under phenomenal leadership and alongside some of my favorite people. I am currently at Silver Dollar City’s White Water as their Operations Supervisor. I primarily oversee the Lifeguard team, Cash Control, Safety, and Park Hosts.

What is your favorite memory from Evangel?

My favorite memory is having the privilege of representing Evangel at the National Tournament for Women’s Basketball.

How did Evangel help you identify/develop your calling?

I had the privilege of sitting in classes with some fantastic professors. Classes that truly helped shaped me as a professional were: Christianity at Work with Dr. Martindale and literally every Business Class. I still keep in touch occasionally with 2 of my professors via social media. I cannot say enough good things about my classes with Ted Papit, Elizabeth Fletcher, and Bernie Dana. I learned so many good things that helped me develop my calling to lead others.

How did your experience at Evangel prepare you for life after graduation?

My experience at Evangel helped give me a well-rounded education that was rooted in Christ.

What advice would you give a current student preparing for the workforce?

There’s often a divide that happens. Your personal and professional life often seem that they are on two different parallels running in your life. Often, finding a workplace that values the same things you do is difficult. That sometimes causes a feeling of leading a “double life.” Your workplace does not dictate your spiritual life or the ability of Christ to be present in your place of employment. Root yourself in the Spirit and make room for Him to exist in that space with you at work. Pray over each decision. Find ways to show God’s love and work in your life every day. Take those opportunities to allow God to show off.

What would you look for if you were in a position to hire new graduates from Evangel?

I look for employees that show a commitment to learning, respect those around them, and strive to embody the fruits of the spirit.
