The "Meme"-ing of your college application

The Steps

Step 1: Beginning the Search

Beginning the college search is possibly the most daunting task in the application process. With a seemingly endless amount of colleges to choose from, it’s important to decide what you want from your college experience. List out these things and compare them with what each college offers.

[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]At Evangel, we have over 100 academic departments ranging from Music Education to Youth Ministry and everything in between. Our student body is made up of more than 2,000 students who represent all 50 states as well as various international locations. Best of all, our average class size is about 25 students which means the relationship between professor and student goes beyond just a professor-student relationship – you truly become family.[/perfectpullquote]

Step 2: Visiting Your Top Schools

It’s okay if you don’t have a clue what you’re going to do yet. This is where a college visit can help you! Once you’ve listed out what you want from a college and have hopefully narrowed it down to a few, set up individual college visits (if the college has this available). College visits are a great way to get a feel for the campus life and puts feet to all the research you’ve been doing.

[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]Evangel’s official college visit days are a great way to see Evangel community in action. With the option to stay overnight, you get the opportunity to stay in the dorms with a current student and experience life as a college student. You’ll also have the chance to attend a chapel service, sit in on a class, and talk with professors and others students. Check out our remaining 2018 college visit days and get registered at http://www.evangel.edu/admissions/campus-visits/.[/perfectpullquote]

Step 3: Applying to Your Choice Schools

So you’ve explored what it’s like to be a college student during your college visit and hopefully, now you have a better understanding of what college (or two, or three) may fit you best. Now is the time to apply to those schools and stand behind those decisions! This is the most exciting part. You get to tell these schools about yourself and why you want to attend their school.

[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]The application process at Evangel is incredibly simple and doesn’t cost anything to apply! However, it does pay to apply early. If you apply to Evangel by March 1st, you will get priority consideration for scholarships and grants. Why wouldn’t you want to apply early? Go to http://www.evangel.edu/admissions/ to begin the application process today![/perfectpullquote]

Step 4: Waiting to Hear Back

You’ve now applied to all of your choice colleges. Now what? You wait. You can do (almost) anything, but don’t allow your anxiety to keep you up for over 50 hours – that’s not smart. You’ve done everything you can do, now it’s up to these schools to see just how great you are.

[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]If you’re looking for some things to do (or read) while you’re waiting check out our EULife blog: http://blog.evangel.edu/eulife/. Here you can read articles that give an inside look at Evangel’s community. Or you can explore our Residence Life page (http://www.evangel.edu/student-life/residence-life/) and explore the different options we have for on-campus housing. Whatever you decide to do while you wait for those acceptance letters, know that we are praying for you![/perfectpullquote]

Step 5: Deciding Which School You Will Attend

The wait is over. You’ve heard back from the colleges that you have applied for and now the decision must be made. Maybe this is an easy decision for you to make or maybe it’s going to take you a ton of prayer to make a decision. Either way, make sure you get adequate amounts of sleep. Don’t stress yourself out too much about this decision. Be confident that you will make the best decision and that God will give you direction.

[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]The Evangel community would love to have you be a part of what we’re doing! Whether it’s through campus-wide activities, floor specific activities, or hall activities we have plenty of opportunities available where you can have the time of your life. Some of the best people are a part of the Evangel community and we look forward to you joining our community![/perfectpullquote]

Step 6: Getting Excited About the Rest of Your Life

Wow, the application process is complete and you’ve made it through to the other side! At this point, you’ve been accepted and have made the decision to attend one of those schools. Now the fun part begins! You get to enjoy the rest of your senior year and get ready for college to start in August. You get to enjoy a graduation party, go dorm room shopping, get connected with your future roommate (who will likely be your best friend for life), and so much more. This is the time where you get to relax and enjoy yourself. You have worked hard to get to this point and you deserve to “treat yo self!”

[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]If Evangel University is the school you have decided to attend – congratulations! We are overjoyed to welcome you into our community in just a few short months. We have no doubt that God is going to do amazing things through you as you begin this journey. If you have chosen another school to attend – congratulations to you, as well! Yes, we will miss having you with us at Evangel, but we know that God is still going to great things through you as you being this journey![/perfectpullquote]

We pray for each of you as you begin to prepare yourself for this next step. College is an amazing time full of new experiences, new opportunities, and new friendships.
