School of Theology and Church Ministries’ — 2015 graduation awards

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The School of Theology and Church Ministries at Evangel University has announced its graduation awards for 2015.

The awards were given during the baccalaureate service on Thursday, April 30, in the Robert H. Spence Chapel auditorium.

The following School of Theology and Church Ministries awards were presented:

W.I. Evans Outstanding Graduate Award — Cassandra Sherwood from Cincinnati, Ohio

Twila Brown Edwards Woman of Distinction Awards —

  • Jenel Carpenter from Benton, Ark.
  • Anna Schimenti from Kenosha, Wis.

The following Bible & Theology Department awards were presented:

Outstanding Graduate in the Department of Theology — Jeremiah Barker from Miami, Okla.

Outstanding Graduates in Biblical Studies

  • Matthew Taumua from Kent, Wash.
  • Jesse Younger from Blue Mound, Ill.

Outstanding Graduate in Philosophy — Beth Barker from Sevierville, Tenn.

Outstanding Graduate in Biblical Languages — Ashley Jacoby from Anchorage, AK

The following Church Ministries Department awards were presented:

Outstanding Graduate in Church Leadership — Anna Schimenti

Outstanding Graduate in Youth Ministries — Katie Wightman-Oglesby from Kenosha, Wis.

Outstanding Graduate in Preaching — Carl Sohmer from Fort Mohave, Ariz.

Outstanding Graduate in Children’s Ministries — Natalie Daniels from Struthers, Ohio

The following Intercultural Studies Department award was presented:

Outstanding Graduate in Intercultural Studies — Ann Bowman from Pittsburg, Penn.

A total of 514 degrees were conferred at the 57th annual Commencement Ceremony for Evangel University on Friday, May 1, 2015. This includes 403 bachelor’s degrees, 73 master’s degrees and 38 associate’s degrees, 33 of which are from EU’s James River Leadership Campus.

In addition, the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary at Evangel conferred 77 degrees during its ceremony on Saturday morning, May 2. Of those, 21 were Ph.Ds. and other doctoral degrees.
