SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Two of Evangel University’s performance ensembles, EU Chorale and EU Chorus, will collaborate to present a joint concert at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24, in the Barnett Fine Arts Recital Hall.
The concert is free and open to the public.
The 42-member chorale and 86-member chorus will perform a variety of classical, sacred music.
Dr. Richard Honea, professor of music, directs the chorale. They will perform selections from Handel’s Messiah as well as a number of selections by renowned choral composer Philip Stopford.
Tom Matrone, associate professor of music, directs the chorus. They will perform the following:
- Praise His Holy Name by Keith Hampton
- The Battle of Jericho by Moses Hogan
- Make Me An Instrument of Thy Peace by Mary McDonald
- Baba Yetu by Christopher Tin
- I Am Not Yours by Randall Stroope
The annual spring concert is an Evangel tradition that was established during the early years of the school.
“For the students, the spring concert is a nice, relaxing way to end the semester,” said Honea. “Since the music is all sacred, it should be a blessing to everyone who attends.”
