SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – The Evangel University Music Department’s annual Christmas concert will be featured on KY3 on Christmas Day. The one-hour special presentation will air at 7 a.m. on the Ozarks CW and at 11 a.m. on KY3.

“Evangel University has a long-standing tradition of gifting the community of Springfield with the annual Christmas concert,” said Dr. Tom Matrone, chair of EU’s Music Department. “This year, the Music Department is honored that KY3 will be airing a special that highlights the diverse talent of EU students and faculty on Christmas Day, featuring every ensemble of the department.”

More than 200 musicians performed in the 39th annual concert, which was held on December 1 and benefitted the Salvation Army. Performers include students and professors in vocal and instrumental ensembles, including the Evangel University Chorus, Voices of EU student-led a capella group, Men’s Vocal Ensemble, Jazz Band, Jazz Combo, Evangel University Orchestra and Band, Women’s Chamber Ensemble, and University Chorale.

The Christmas Day special will feature holiday songs ranging from classical to traditional such as the Evangel University Chorus’ presentation of “Silent Night,” a Pentatonix arrangement of “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing” by Voices of EU, University Band’s lively piece “Ukrainian Bell Carol,” and Handel’s majestic “Hallelujah” chorus.

Members of “Voices of EU,” a student-led a cappella group, perform at Evangel’s Christmas concert held on Dec. 1.

“The Music Department and the university welcome this excellent opportunity to share the message of this beautiful season,” Matrone said.
