Published on Apr 1, 2014 by Michaela Smith

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. –The Evangel University Jazz Orchestra, under the direction of Joel Griffin, director of jazz studies, will present its spring concert on Tuesday, April 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the Barnett Recital Hall.

The public is welcome to attend and admission is free.

For this concert, Dave Scott, award-winning trumpeter from New York, will perform with the orchestra. Scott is recognized as a prolific composer and has toured nationally with his original quintet for many years.

As a clinician and jazz soloist, Scott has performed in jazz festivals for universities across the U.S. His ability to perform on both trumpet and piano gives him a unique perspective as a clinician and instructor, and he serves as an adjunct instructor of music at Western Connecticut State University.

“This will be an exciting evening of great jazz,” Griffin said. “Dave Scott is a world class trumpeter, and we are privileged to have him with us.”

The spring program is made up of jazz standards.
