SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Evangel University English professor Dr. Luke Gibbs and his family will be featured on KY3 this Saturday morning (Dec. 3, 2016) from 7 to 8 a.m., on behalf of the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
The family will be interviewed live in-studio at about 7:30 a.m.
Luke and his wife, Melanie, have twin girls, Cordelia and Rosalind, who were born at 25 weeks in June 2015.
According to Gibbs, they were “micro-preemies” at 1 lb. 5 oz. and 1 lb. 10 oz., respectively. The girls were monoamniotic twins — identical twins that share the same amniotic sack.
After 105 days in the NICU, the twins came home October of 2015.
“The Children’s Miracle Network interview will be concerning the twins and their progress,” he said. “Some of the footage is of the girls’ in the hospital last year, interviews with Melanie and me, and footage of their first year birthday.”
The twins have a five-year-old big sister, Elizabeth.

Luke is an associate professor of English at Evangel University. He grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, Portugal and Belgium. After working as a journalist and editor, he started teaching English at Central Bible College in 2004 and transitioned to Evangel in 2013.
Luke earned a double major in English and journalism from Evangel in 1998. He then earned his master’s degree from Missouri State in 2004 and his Ph.D. from the University of Missouri in 2012, both in English literature.
Melanie grew up in Fullerton, Calif. She moved to Springfield in 2006, following her parents who came to town for jobs at Global University. She and Luke met and married in 2009.
Melanie took off nine months after the twins were born, but is back to work as a stylist and color specialist at Karma Salon on Kimbrough.
