Dear Evangel University Family and Friends:
First it was the devastation of Hurricane Harvey in Texas. Then Hurricane Irma tore through the center of Florida. Immediately after that, Maria raided the islands, while an earthquake tore at the heart of Mexico.
In each of these disasters, there were alumni, family and friends of Evangel University who were impacted in multiple ways.
And following each of these disasters, another group of Evangel alumni, family and friends at Convoy of Hope have been working night and day to deliver life-saving supplies to those in need.
Right after Harvey hit, we encouraged you to pray and help. Those prayers and your help are needed now, more than ever.
CONVOY of HOPE
We encourage people to support Convoy of Hope, a faith-based, non-profit organization that leads disaster relief and other humanitarian initiatives across the United States and around the world.
Evangel University strongly believes in the mission and purpose of Convoy, which was founded and continues to be led by Evangel alumni.
They have Disaster Services teams on the ground distributing food, water and emergency supplies, and they will continue with relief efforts long after the storms have passed and the media have left the area.
Updates are posted below — please feel free to check back here often. *
We are reminded in scripture that storms and suffering are part of this life, but God has promised to always be with us.
But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. Isa. 43:1-3
Now, may the Lord bless you and keep you; may the Lord bless our country and the men and women who serve to protect our neighbors, our friends, our family; may the Lord give us all peace. Amen.
Dr. Carol A. Taylor
President, Evangel University
