SPRINGFIELD, Mo. –  “I begin my book, Living Well: 10 Big Ideas of Faith and a Meaningful Life, with a family story about the tornado which wiped out most of Greensburg, Kansas, including the house where my brother-in-law lived,” said Dr. Geoff Sutton.

“I know it seems strange to start off a book about living well with a tragedy, but during tough times we often see so much strength,” he said.

“I was impressed by the gracious and compassionate work of the Convoy of Hope volunteers and those from various faith groups who showed up to support so many families who lost so much.”

Living Well is about the timeless ways people of faith live meaningful lives.

Ideas for individual & group study

“My aim in this book is to draw on 10 virtues found in scripture and studied by scientists that can have a measurable impact on living well,” continued Sutton, professor emeritus of psychology at Evangel University.

The 10 Big Ideas link faith and evidence to the concepts of: cultivating humility, discovering courage, giving generously, expressing gratitude, building hope, practicing forgiveness, finding rest, strengthening self-control, celebrating joy, and demonstrating love.

“Geoffrey Sutton provides a valuable resource for living the good life,” said Dr. Howard Kenyon, vice president of Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon. “Bible study meets scientific inquiry meets practical how-to — this is a helpful tool for congregation and classroom alike.”

Rev. Jodi Faulkner of Oklahoma appreciates the abundance of resources in each chapter that “would be beneficial for our small groups to use.”

A native of London, England, Geoffrey Sutton, earned his Ph.D. from the University of Missouri and is the author of more than 100 publications. His retirement includes three activities — grandparenting, traveling, and writing.

Living Well is available from Amazon Books and other connected distributors.
