Dennis is beginning his 52nd year of coaching, 32 of which he has served as an offensive coordinator at the college/university level. Ten years were spent as a head coach at the NCAA Division II level. He has been Coach of the Year in the Lone Star Conference and Assistant Coach of the Year in the Heart of America Conference. He was also inducted into the New Mexico Football Hall of Fame as the FCA Coach of the Year.
He is a member of the American Football Coaches Association and has served on the NCAA Football Rules Committee. While living in St Joseph, Missouri, he was selected to Leadership St. Joseph. He also served on the State of Iowa FCA Board.
