Greetings from the President

As I reflect on the last twenty-nine months I’ve had the honor of being part of this Evangel family, I am continually renewed by the deep and abiding love people have for Evangel and for advancing its mission. That commitment has yielded extraordinary results and essential progress over the last year.

EU is a place of belonging, excellence, and compassion producing graduates with virtue and valor for every vocation on the earth. We have the power of God to help us improve lives, come alongside the suffering, and be Christ’s ambassadors all over the world.

The goal of a Spirit-driven institution for me is to prepare students to believe God for great things and excel on the highest possible stage of influence in their vocation. At EU, we believe that with God’s help, students can spend their lives and vocations in meaningful ways that impact and help transform lives. For EU, to set about drawing out the God given potential inside every student, to help them be able to endure setbacks and sufferings should they come, and not lose faith, hope or compassion for the things God cares about provides for each student a learning that usually doesn’t happen in the classroom.

In deeply spiritual ways, Evangel University exhibits remarkable compassion for those we are called to serve and an unrelenting aspiration to achieve itsmission of equipping Spirit-empowered servants of God to impact society globally. This distinctive mission is ever-present on our campus and in our alums as we act upon what it means to be Evangel University in the marketplace.

I want to encourage you as alumni and friends, continue to come alongside us as we work together for greater impact. Pray for us. Our students just finished 21 days of praying for YOU. Will you in turn pray for them, their families and their calling. Give. Without the support of alumni and friends the mission does not continue. And right now your gift has double the impact. Come back. For some of you, that will mean a new masters degree or doctorate degree in your field. For others, we invite you back to sporting events, Homecoming, and other special events. You will always be an important part of our family, and we are always happy to see you and offer whatever advice or assistance we can as you fulfill God’s call on your life. Our culture is desperate for change, and I believe that together we can see God do more than we can even imagine.

With Gratitude,

Dr. Mike Rakes
