Three AGTS alumni honored with Sigma Chi Pi awards

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Three distinguished graduates from the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary in Springfield, Mo., have been named the 2016 Sigma Chi Pi Honor Society inductees, an honor sponsored by the Alliance for Assemblies of God Higher Education.

Members of the AGTS faculty nominate three graduates who satisfy scholastic, character and leadership qualifications and who graduated at least ten years prior.

The list of past Sigma Chi Pi Honor Society inductees from AGTS features educators, church leaders, missionaries and military chaplains.

The 2016 recipients are:

• Dr. Douglas A. Oss ’80

2016-07.a Oss, Dr. DouglassDouglas A. Oss, Sr., joined the AGTS faculty in 2005 to start the expository preaching program. He is the founding director of the Cordas C. Burnett Center for Biblical Preaching and holds the title Professor of Biblical Theology and New Testament Interpretation. In 2013, he redesigned the program and developed the curriculum for the Ph.D. in Biblical Interpretation and Theology. He served as director of that program until his retirement from AGTS this spring.

A native of Washington State, Oss spent his school years in Yakima. He then earned a B.A. in Psychology from Western Washington University in 1976; an M.Div. from AGTS in 1980; and a Ph.D. in Hermeneutics and Biblical Interpretation from Westminster Theological Seminary (Philadelphia) in 1992.

Prior to joining the faculty of AGTS, Oss was the founding pastor of Capital Church in Salt Lake City, Utah (1997-2004). He also taught for 10 years at Central Bible College and four years at Valley Forge Christian College. He has planted two churches and established two university ministries.

Among his many scholarly accomplishments, Oss co-authored the book Are Miraculous Gifts for Today (Zondervan); translated 1 & 2 Corinthians for the New Living Translation; and served as a translation scholar for the English Standard Version New Testament. He has been a plenary session speaker at the World Pentecostal Conference in Los Angeles, the Pentecostal Preachers Conference in Springfield, Mo., and the All-Europe World Missions Retreat in Terragona, Spain.

• Donna Krstulovich ’83

2016-07.b Krstulovich, DonnaDonna Hardee Krstulovich was born in Iran and raised in the diverse cultures of the Philippines, Nepal, Pakistan and Malaysia. She completed her B.A. at Central Bible College in 1982 and her M.A. in Intercultural Communications from AGTS in 1983.

An ordained minister from the Potomac District, Donna served as an associate minister at Arlington Assembly of God in Arlington, Va., where she pioneered an International Ministry (1984-1988).

She received full appointment with Assemblies of God World Missions (1988) and served in Eurasia (1990-2003) where she started a café to show the love of Jesus to Muslim women through hospitality. In Central Eurasia she started another café (2003-2006) that is still flourishing. After her marriage to Steve Krstulovich in 2006, they served together in Central Eurasia and were part of a church plant in the city where they lived.

Donna currently serves as an International Trainer with Global Initiative: Reaching Muslim Peoples to equip a new generation of leaders to share the good news of Jesus Christ. She and Steve are currently enrolled in the Ph.D. Intercultural Studies program at AGTS.

• Dr. Earl G. Creps ’02

2016-07.c Creps, Dr. EarlEarl G. Creps serves as the lead pastor of 360church, a diverse congregation serving creatives in Berkeley, Calif. He also serves AGTS as the visiting professor of leadership and spiritual renewal. He is a specialist in missional Christianity, postmodernism, communication and leadership.

Creps grew up in the Pittsburgh, Pa., area. He earned his bachelors degree in Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh in 1976; his master’s and Ph.D. from Northwestern University (Illinois) in 1978 and 1980; and completed his Doctor of Ministry from AGTS in 2001.

Creps began his teaching career in the state university system of Vermont and has served as adjunct faculty for several Christian institutions. He frequently speaks at conventions, seminars and retreats, and he authored two well-received books, Off-Road Disciplines: Spiritual Adventures of Missional Leaders and Reverse Mentoring.

He served as a pastor in Vermont, Maine, Florida and Missouri, and participated in district ministries, such as serving as a sectional presbyter in the Northern New England District Council. On the national level, he served as adult ministries consultant for The General Council of the Assemblies of God and has been a member of various General Council committees.
