Published on Apr 4, 2017 by Paul K. Logsdon

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel University Chorale is singing at Central Assembly of God on Palm Sunday, April 9, 2017, at 6 p.m. The concert is a collaboration of the EU Chorale and the Central Assembly Choir.

Central Assembly is located at 1301 N. Boonville Ave., in Springfield, Mo. The presentation is free and the public is encouraged to attend.

“The Chorale of 52 singers will be doing works that reflect the story of the passion of Christ,” said Tom Matrone, chair of the Department of Music at Evangel. “The program is diverse in nature and will feature the orchestra on many of the selections.”

The EU Chorale will be joining the Central Sanctuary Choir to sing Fettke’s “The Majesty & Glory of Your Name” and “Worthy Is the Lamb” from Handel’s Messiah.

They will also perform works of Ola Gjeilo, Palestrina, Gyorgy Orban and Erik Evensalds.

The University Chorale is a select choir with a mission to prepare and present only the best of sacred classical choral literature. In addition to on-campus performances, they regularly perform with the Springfield Symphony Orchestra.
