SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Evangel student media recently received awards from the 2012 Missouri College Media Association (MCMA) state competition.These contests recognize excellent student media produced during 2011. Professional media members serve as contest judges.
Excalibur
The Excalibur, Evangel’s yearbook, received five MCMA awards as follows:
First Place awards:
- Portrait Design, Jaclynne Forsyth, 2011 graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree
- Feature Photography, Nathaniel McGinnis, sophomore pre-engineering major
Third Place awards:
- Student Life Design, Samantha Smith, 2011 graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in communication
- Theme Development, Samantha Smith
Honorable Mention award:
- Sports Photography, Benjamin Bagwell, 2011 Bachelor of Science degree in advertising and public relations
Samantha Smith was Excalibur editor. Nancy Pace-Miller, assistant professor of communication, is the faculty adviser.
The Lance
Evangel’s student newspaper, The Lance, received 21 awards in MCMA’s Division 3 contest as follows:
