The Evangel University Faculty Brass Quintet will present their spring concert in the recital hall of the Barnett Fine Arts Center on Monday, April 23rd, at 7:30 p.m.
The concert is free and open to the public. The Fine Arts Center is located south of the Robert H. Spence Chapel, facing Glenstone Ave.
The group serves as the brass quintet-in-residence at Evangel University. Members are Tim Wootton and Darren Eddington (trumpets), Dr. Eric Jackson (horn), Matt Moore (trombone) and Dwight Davis (tuba).
In addition to playing for university functions, the quintet enjoys performing in the surrounding community through concerts, clinics, workshops and other events.
“Our spring program features a celebration of the lives and contributions of Martin Luther and Leonard Bernstein. This past year, we remembered the 500th anniversary of the start of the Reformation. Our concert begins with a tribute to one of Luther’s best known hymns,” said Wootton.
“In addition, much of the music world is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the birth of Leonard Bernstein this year. Our second half will feature musical highlights from one of his most beloved musicals,” he said.
Nadia Stine and Brendon Boyd Dalton, dance students at Missouri State University, will be assisting with the Bernstein composition.
