SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Evangel University will honor our nation’s veterans on Tuesday, Nov. 11, with several activities, all of which are free and open to the public.
- 10 a.m. CHAPEL —
Retired Army Chaplain Shawn Moreland will be the featured speaker in a special chapel service, where recognition will be given to those members of the Evangel community who have served in the armed services. The Evangel University Orchestra will provide special music for this event.
- 11:15 a.m. RUN —
The Evangel Student Veterans Association is sponsoring a free “Veterans Day Run,” open to service members and civilians. Participants are invited to meet in front of Evangel’s chapel at 11:15 a.m., and they will run as a group for three miles from Glenstone to Chestnut Expressway, to National, to Division, and back up Glenstone to the front of the Robert H. Spence Chapel.
- 1-3 p.m. OPEN HOUSE —
Evangel University will hold a special open house to celebrate the new Admiral Vern Clark Veterans Center, which is located inside the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary. The center is named after retired U.S. Navy Admiral Vernon E. Clark, a 1967 Evangel graduate. Clark culminated his Naval career as Chief of Naval Operations and member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, from 2000 to 2005.
- 7:30 p.m. ORCHESTRA CONCERT —
The Evangel University Orchestra will present its fall concert under the direction of Dr. Larry Dissmore on Veterans Day, Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 7:30 p.m. in the Robert H. Spence Chapel. This event is free and open to the public.
The varied program will include a salute to our nation’s veterans. Those veterans in attendance are invited to wear their uniforms.
