SPRINGFIELD, MO — Due to the warm weather this week, more than 9,000 tulips at Evangel University are starting to bloom, and the community is invited to enjoy their beauty across the front of the north Springfield campus.

The annual photo opportunity has become a local tradition.

“Bring your kids and bring your camera!” said Evangel spokesman Paul K. Logsdon. “White and yellow tulips come out early, and by next week, they should all be showing color.”

The tulips in the flower beds facing south, where they benefit from heat absorbed by the brick buildings, are in full bloom now. More of the beds across the front of the campus are opening up every day.

“We are happy to share our tulips with our friends and neighbors,” added Logsdon.

The Evangel University campus is located at 1111 N. Glenstone Ave. in Springfield.

Tulips are also planted in front of Assemblies of God Theological Seminary at Evangel, on the north side of the campus.
