Evangel’s 36th Annual Christmas Concert, Dec. 6, to support The Salvation Army
The Evangel University Department of Music will present its 36th Annual Christmas Concert on Friday, December 6, at 7:00 p.m. in the Robert H. Spence Chapel. The doors will open at 6 p.m. and prelude music starts at 6:15 p.m. Admission is either a non-perishable food item or a cash donation to benefit The Salvation Army.

EU Films will be presenting the student-produced science-fiction drama “While the World Slept” on December 12, 2019, at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. in the Barnett Fine Arts Center. Admission for adults is $2, students $1, and Evangel students with an ID get in free.

Evangel students present “A Night on Broadway” to benefit Weller Elementary
Back by popular demand, a group of Evangel University students are producing “A Night on Broadway” Friday and Saturday, Nov. 22-23, at 7 p.m. Both musical productions are fundraisers to support the children at Weller Elementary school. The performances will be held in the theatre of the Barnett Fine Arts Center. Admission will be a donation of winter clothing items, school and art supplies, or a $5 cover charge.

Evangel University’s Center for Compassion recently coordinated a landmark survey that confirms the success of the faith-based Adult & Teen Challenge USA addiction recovery program. The survey measured the effectiveness of the Adult & Teen Challenge program by assessing the well-being of graduates one year following program completion.

Evangel University partners with Achieve of Southwest Missouri to empower and equip youth with disabilities
Evangel University is partnering with Achieve of Southwest Missouri to offer training space, peer mentorship, hands-on career exploration, and community connections to local youth with disabilities. A launch event will be held Friday, Oct. 25 at 1 p.m. in the Heritage Room of Riggs Administration Building.

Enrollment increases 8.95% at Evangel University
Total enrollment at Evangel University for the fall of 2019 has increased by 8.95%. There are 2,300 students officially enrolled at Evangel this fall, an increase of 189 over last year, according to Chris Belcher, vice president for enrollment management.

Torah scroll that survived the Holocaust given to AGTS of Evangel University for academic use
AGTS of Evangel University has received an authentic Torah scroll which survived the Holocaust in Eastern Europe. Due to damage and age, the scroll was declared pasul, or no longer kosher, before the donation. The 138-foot-long scroll was donated by God’s Ancient Library foundation and will be a significant tool for biblical study by AGTS students and professors.

Trees of Honor celebration at Evangel University, Oct. 4
During a special Homecoming ’19 celebration on Friday, October 4, the Evangel University family will celebrate the service of 10 special pioneer women, the “Dorm Mothers” from 1955 to 1965. A special Trees of Honor ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. for these beloved ladies, in the lobby of the Riggs Hall Administration Building.

The 2019 Evangel University Athletic Hall of Fame Class will be honored with the 2019 Hall of Fame Banquet on Friday. The Evangel University Fine Art & Design Gallery will be showcasing “Silver 25 Prints,” through September and October. The exhibit will display 25 pieces of art originally commissioned by Christians in the Visual Arts (CIVA), based on classics in the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C.

Bilingual Spanish Master of Leadership and Ministry degree launched at AGTS
The Assemblies of God Theological Seminary of Evangel University has designed a Bilingual Spanish Master of Leadership and Ministry degree in recognition of the growing constituency of Hispanic ministry leaders within the Assemblies of God fellowship. An entirely online course delivery allows increased access and the ability for students to study anytime, anywhere. Scholarships are available to AG-credential holders.

Saturday is Evangel’s service day with Convoy of Hope at Weller Elementary
Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019 is the Evangel University community service day in partnership with Springfield-based Convoy of Hope, at Weller Elementary. In addition, more than 100 Evangel students are working at the Convoy of Hope warehouse, 330 S. Paterson Ave., where they are preparing 5,000 bags of groceries for a community outreach in Flint, Michigan.
