AGTS Endowed and Private Academic Scholarships

Thanks to the generosity of alumni, churches, and friends, a wide range of private and endowed scholarships are available to help reduce the financial burden of your seminary education.

These scholarships make it more affordable to pursue your calling, allowing you to focus on your studies and spiritual formation. The scholarships are based on academic standing in your major, financial need, and donor-specified criteria.

  • Eligibility: new admitted students and returning students in good academic standing
  • Application: To apply, complete the AGTS Scholarship Application in the Registration Checklist (log into the Student Portal, click on the Registration Checklist link, and look for the “Scholarships” item). This application must be completed annually.
  • Award: Scholarships will be awarded for the academic year and disbursed over the fall, spring, and summer semesters.
  • Renewability: Most of the AGTS scholarships are not automatically renewed. Students must submit the scholarship form annually. Award amounts may increase or decrease depending on available funds and/or scholarship criteria.
  • Deadline: Monday, June 22, 2026

William B and Marsha J Singley (WMS) Scholarship

This $5000 annual scholarship is available to qualifying Master of Divinity students at the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary. This scholarship is renewable for up to 3 years (9 semesters).

Eligibility: 

  • – Newly admitted students in the Master of Divinity Degree Program
  • – GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • – Recipients must maintain full-time (9 hours) continuous enrollment (fall, spring, and summer) with a GPA of 3.0 or higher

There is not a separate application for this scholarship. To be considered, complete the AGTS Scholarship form (log into the Student Portal, click on the Registration Checklist link, and look for the “Scholarships” item) as instructed above.

Mercy Pastoral Scholarship Fund

This annual scholarship covers the full cost of tuition and fees and includes extra for textbooks for AGTS students in the Master of Divinity, M.A. in Intercultural Studies, M.A. in Theological Studies, or Master of Leadership and Ministry programs.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Currently serving or intending to serve as a pastor, missionary, or church planter
  • Full-time enrollment of 9 credit hours per semester
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Open to online and on-campus students
  • Maximum award: $12,900 per academic year covers course tuition, semester fees, and includes $125 per course toward textbooks via Evangel’s bookstore service, Slingshot.

Tentmaker Scholarship Doctor of Ministry Scholarship

The Tentmaker Scholarship takes its name from Acts 18: 3–4, where the apostle Paul supported himself through his work as a tentmaker while continuing his ministry of teaching and preaching. This annual scholarship is intended to support co-vocational ministry leaders as they pursue a Doctor of Ministry degree.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Admittance to the Doctor of Ministry program
  • Current ministry service as a co-vocational pastor/minister (i.e., someone who serves in a ministry context while also working in a secondary vocation to provide financial support for themselves and/or their family)

Alumni Scholarship for Seminary Master’s Programs

Evangel University and Central Bible College alumni are eligible for a graduate alumni scholarship of $700 per academic year disbursed over the fall, spring, and summer semesters toward a seminary master’s degree program.

To qualify, students must be enrolled as a full-time student (9 or more hours per semester) in the Master of Leadership and Ministry (excludes Executive Cohorts), Master of Arts in Theological Studies, Master of Arts in Intercultural Studies, or Master of Divinity degree program. The scholarship is disbursed over the fall, spring, and summer semesters and cannot be combined with other institutional scholarships or discounts.

AGWM Missionaries

AGWM Missionaries are eligible for the following tuition discounts:

  • Doctor of Ministry – 10%
  • Doctor of Applied Intercultural Studies – 30%
  • Ph.D. in Intercultural Studies – 30%
  • Ph.D. in Biblical Interpretation and Theology – 30%

District Officials

Full-time AG district officials are eligible for one free master’s level course per academic year. This includes District Youth Directors and Christian Education Directors.

Faculty and Staff of Assemblies of God Colleges and Universities

  • Ph.D. in Biblical Interpretation and Theology – 30%

Free Audit Course for Local Pastors and AGTS Alumni

Senior/lead AG pastors living within a 50-mile radius of Springfield are eligible to audit one resident or continuing education course (master’s level) per academic year, tuition free. This discount does not apply to courses taken for graduate credit.

AGTS graduates are eligible for one resident or online course per academic year, tuition free. Master graduates may enroll in a master-level course; doctoral graduates may enroll in a doctoral or master-level course.

  • This audit benefit applies only to AGTS courses, and the tuition waiver does not cover fees or textbooks.
  • Enrollment is on a space-available basis.
  • The audit course cannot earn academic credit and will appear on the student’s transcript as an audit (AU).
  • There is a $90 processing fee, which will be charged to the student’s account.
